F L E M E T H There are men who embrace destiny; these are the ones that change the world forever
Another shot of the Flemeth costume that I made and wore for Anime Boston 2011. This was an intense costume with hundreds of silver embellishments, a fully structured, boned and busked corset top, a billowing skirt with a train, horned wig, and full arm and leg armor. It was invigorating.
I went through some very hard times in my personal life when I was making this costume; I lost my mother, who I love deeply. She was one of the most beautiful and important people in my life. The creative process that went into it was a much needed escape and served as a filter for all of those raw emotions that I was feeling. I hope that it would have made my mother proud to have seen this; I always used to show her my finished costumes and they would make her smile. I hope that, somewhere in the universe, she is still watching.
This costume was lovingly made and worn by me, This gorgeous photo was taken by my stunning Lady Hawke,
Excellent! I've been planning to do a Flemeth costume myself. May I ask, how did you do the hair piece? That's the hardest part for me to figure out. Great job on the costume!
Awesome! The hair pieces were made of wire mesh that I sculpted into the shape of horns. I then covered the structures with duct tape and painted them white (I was planning to use plaster, but I figured that it would be too heavy and throw the wig off-balance.) Once the paint was dry, I wrapped white hair extensions around the horns, then sewed them all into the wig individually. The process took two (very late ) nights. I wish you the very best of luck with your Flemeth costume! Please feel free to post a link on my page when you're finished; I would love to see the finished project.
The costume is spectacular, well done in every case, made really well. ^ _ ^
