In the past two weekends,
and I traveled from the southernmost to one of the northernmost tips of our country and attended two different events in our Hellsing costumes. We took several photo shoots in both locations and achieved a variety of marvelous pictures. I am just floored; in two weeks, we managed to capture indoor "Hellsing Manor" photos, Rio de Janero scenes and London imagery.
This photo was shot in Portland, Maine at Portcon 2011. Maine is a great state for "creepy" (overcast, foggy) and/or English-themed photos, as are most of the New England states. That is why most of Stephen King's novels are set there.
Both the rifle and the military uniform on this costume were lovingly made by my own hands. This is a divine shot of the tailoring details in the front of my jacket. The front has four darts, two tucks in the vertical darts, pockets, bias tape collar details, functional pleated pockets, 18 working buttons, and topstitching in more areas that I care to count. XD
The back of the jacket (not shown) has seven total darts, six of them with topstitched tucks. This was an intense tailoring project, which I'll say right now was hugely fun and challenging for me. (I'll say from experience that sometimes, it's easier to make elaborate armor than it is to construct a crisply tailored outfit!)
The belt is Betsey Johnson. If you look closely, you'll find the Union Jack pinned onto my sleeve cuff.
